Flushing Meadows-Corona Park

Flushing Meadows Park is a great place to run for those who enjoy seeing the sites or for those looking for a long run through Queens. For those interested in a long run, this is the beginning and the end. Park your car here and head out to the east into the Queens Botanical Garden and through Kissena Park. You can follow this Greenway all the way to Alley Pond Park and up to the Throggs Neck Bridge and back. Flushing Meadows has also hosted ultramarathon events including a 6 and 10 day race.

Flushing Meadows - Corona Park

For those that enjoy the scenery, you’ll get a glimpse of Shea Stadium, the Queens Zoo, the Hall of Science, the Queens Art Museum, Arthur Ashe Stadium (US Open - Tennis), and an array of art pieces left over from the World’s Fair, including the famous “space ships” from Men in Black and the Unisphere. The route above is approximately 2.55 miles.

Meadow Lake

Flushing Meadows - Meadow Lake

This 84-acre man made lake has a paved path that circles its shore. The course is flat, but can be windy and seems to flood easily during rains. During the summer months it can get quite hot, as the lack of protection from the sun becomes apparent. The route mapped above is just over 2.25 miles.

Directions

Running: This is the western starting point of the Greenway connecting Flushing Meadows-Corona Park to Kissena Park, Cunningham Park, and Alley Pond Park. Run west along the Greenway from any of these parks to reach Flushing Meadows.

Driving: Grand Central Parkway (GCP) East to the Northern Blvd./Shea Stadium exit; bear right at bottom of ramp; continue right for park facilities. -GCP West to Exit 9A. Turn left for Shea and Marina; turn right for all other facilities, -Long Island Expressway (LIE) East to Exit 22 to GCP West Exit 9A. See B. -LIE West to Exit 21 to GCP West Exit 9A. See B. -Whitestone Expwy. South to Exit 13 Northern Blvd/Shea Stadium, follow road to Northern Blvd make first right, marina and restaurant straight ahead and bear right; make first left for Shea and all other facilities. Bear right at traffic circle for all facilities; turn right and continue around circle for Shea.

Public Transportation: 7 train to Willets Point/Shea Stadium; Or, E, F, V, R trains to 71st Avenue, then take the Q65A bus. Or, Q48 to Roosevelt Avenue and Willets Point Station; Or, Q66 on Northern Boulevard. (Shea and Marina only)
